Fall Into Reading Challenge

Katrina has issued a challenge to do some fall reading. There's nothing I love more than reading a good book (and I've been known to stick with some bad ones, just to satisfy my curiosity!). I'm famous (or should I say, infamous) for starting books & not finishing them. I'm hoping this challenge will hold me accountable.

I can't think about my calendar for the next few months without hyperventilating! My list is small, and doesn't contain classics like everyone else's. But it's what I can do for now. Without further adieu, here goes (you can click on the titles to find out more)

Non-Fiction:

A Jewel in His Crown by Priscilla Evans Shirer. The first few chapters of this book are amazing. I can't believe I stopped reading it. Life just happened. But I want to know more of what Priscilla has to say. I'm going to start over.

For Women Only: What you Need to Know About the Inner Lives of Men by Shaunti Feldhahn. I'm actually leading the companion Bible study beginning on October, but I want to read the original book, too.

Your Girl: Raising a Godly Daughter in an UnGodly World by Vicki Courtney.

Fiction:

The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards.

Welcome to Wahoo by Dennis Carr. I'll be honest, I picked this up at the local library only because the title intrigued me, since I am a Wahoo. The quality of the book remains to be seen.

Rise and Shine by Anna Quindlen.

Divine by Karen Kingsbury.

Oceans Apart
by Karen Kingsbury.

UPDATED TO ADD: A Time to Mend by Angela Hunt.

I've put these non-fiction books on my list because I was actually able to get them at the local library. I'm trying to kick the Barnes & Noble habit for a while. I probably have 30 books on my shelves that I need to read (yet I keep going to the library and B&N!). So, I'm hoping for another challenge in in January...to read books we already own! What do you say, Katrina?

Hi Melissa. I found you through Family Friendly Blogroll. Notice you are from VA ~ me too. We live in the Valley ~ although I'm a Tech fan.

Blessings to you!

Looks like a good list. I also stick with bad books--I just have to. I'm getting better about that, because there's so much that I want to read.

That Daughter book looks interesting.

I also have lots of amazon books on my shelves that I haven't read yet. Some of them are on the list, but other ones are from the library.

I'm glad you joined the challenge, Melissa! Your list looks great. I have "Your Boy" by Vicki Courtney on my back-up pile, just in case I get through my whole list!

Oh, and as for a challenge to read the books we already own... Well, that's a very good and noble idea. And I'm sure my husband would LOVE for me to do that. But...well...I just dont know if I could give up the feeling of a new book for as loooong as it would take to read all the books I already have. But I probably should try to do that... Hmmm...I'll have to think about it. :)

Looks like a ton of us are wanting to read "Divine". For Women Only is very good. Change my way of doing some things! Happy Reading!

I think I should get The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I've read a couple of really good review on that book.

Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors. Oceans Apart is wonderful and tear-jerking. Always have a box of kleenex handy. :-)

That's a great list!
You're going to love For Women Only. I did a little (very informal) review on my blog, if you'd like to hop over sometime and read it. :)
The Vicki Courtney book sounds great! I'm very keen on this area, as I wasn't raised with a very good example of how to conduct myself as a young lady - thank God He's teaching me now! :)
You may also like Shannon Ethridge (I've "reviewed" - and I use that term loosely - her book Every Woman's Battle on my blog too). She has a series for mommies and daughters (I haven't read it, but I plan to), young single women, ladies not so young ;) and married ladies.
Happy reading!

Melissa, I was somewhere the other day, and three of your books were highly recommended by the ladies there! I also have a shelf full of books, and the library called today to let me know they're holding six more. If I didn't love books so much, I might be a little overwhelmed!!
