What's On Your Nightstand - August Edition

What's On Your Nightstand

It's time once again to reveal what's on our nightstands for 5 Minutes for Books.

~Pride and Prejudice, which I'm reading for the Classics Bookclub. It's been a while since I last read it. I'm falling in love all over again!

~The Queen of Sleepy Eye by Patti Hill. I just have a review copy, but the story of this mother/daughter journey looks interesting and funny so far.

~The Bride Bargain by Kelly Eileen Hake. An historical romance set in the American Plains in the late 19th century.

~Sydney Clair's Season of Change: A Friendship Story (The Girls 'n Grace Collection). A Christian "American Girl"-type series. I'm giving it a whirl before passing it along to CJ.

Somehow, I've gotten this far in life without ever reading Pride & Prejudice. My plan is to put in on my fall reading list. I know so many people who love it that I have to give it a try.

I need to START P&P. I have a week, right?

The Bride Bargain sounds interesting.

Thanks for sharing your list!

I'm with Carrie -- just now starting P&P. Oh well.

In fact, I think I need to go outside with my son right now and start reading.

I just got a whole set of Austen books from my neighbor for free! That was exciting. I'm going to have to read Emma next!

Thanks for sharing! :D

I am about to start P&P for the first time. I am very excited :-) Glad you are loving it again! The Queen of Sleepy Eye looks like a fun book as well.

Beautiful blog! This is my first time here! I love Austen, on my nightstand, among many others is Just Jane by Nancy Moser - it's awesome!

I read an ARC of Queen of Sleepy Eye and it was really good. I have the rereading of P+P on my list too for the classics challenge. :)

I see you homeschool, and I'm not exactly sure where your daughter is in her reading level, but for Christian historical fiction we would frequently use the Sisters in Time series. There are 24 total books and you can get them through CBD. They are roughly 140 pages each or so. I'm going strictly from memory now, which is probably not a good thing.

Thanks for sharing your list. It looks good. I've never read P&P, but will be reading it this year because of homeschooling.

I, too, am reading Pride and Prejudice, but because I've already seen the A&E version of the movie (which is excellent - follows the book and dialogue wonderfully), I am having a hard time spending time on it. It is a wonderful story though, I just love it!
