American Idol & Project Runway have cut into my reading time a little, but here's what's on my nightstand this month:
Anne of Avonlea- I read Anne of Green Gables for the first time a couple of years ago, but didn't realize there was an entire series of books (I know...I must live under a rock!). I went back to visit Anne in the original book earlier this month, and promptly decided to read the rest of the series. (You can read some of my favorite quotes from this book in my new carnival, The Week in Words. While you're there, join in!)
The Westing Game - I believe it was Katrina who mentioned this book, which I'd never heard of. As I always do when I come across a title I don't recognize, I read a synopsis (one reason the Amazon links are so handy!). Somehow I missed this one growing up, too. Since my library had it, I scooped it up.
This Momentary Marriage: A Parable of Permanence. Look for an upcoming giveaway on this one.
Ransome's Honor. Because, really, you can never have enough 19th Century England in your life!
As my friend Carrie confessed, I have more books than I know what to do with (and an Amazon wish list that grows almost daily!) I should resign myself to the fact that I'll never read them all. But it will sure be fun to try.
You can visit 5 Minutes for Books to see other lists & get great ideas. What are YOU reading these days?

Isn't there a movie of Ransome's Honor?
Here is mine
I missed The Westing Game, too, but I guess it’s not too late to go back and catch it. I did read This Momentary Marriage; very good stuff.
I also have way too many books, but it is fun trying to get to them all. Thanks for your list!
Love that list! I am currently reading the political buzz book Game Change and loving it. Just finished the first half this morning....all about the Democrats. Now on to the Republicans tonight. I vowed to stay off my laptop in the evenings - such a huge time waster - and read instead.
I missed the Westing Game too! I saw where Katrina mentioned it and now I really must see if the library has a copy...
Well, welcome out from underneath the rock! ;D (It's a bright, big beautiful world out here. haha.)
Ooo. Looking forward to your thoughts on Momentary Marriage!
Ha--yes, American Idol -- as you know it's a "problem" for me as well now.
Amanda likes The Westing Game, but I don't think I ever read it either.
You sounds just like me! I have so many books to read it is hard to decide which one should be next.
I first read Anne as a young married woman a couple of decades ago -- I had never heard about them in childhood. I just reread the first book and want to go through the rest this year. I've not heard of the others but they sound good.
I think I am one of the only people around who hasn't read ANY of the Anne books (don't tell Carrie on me). Looks like you have some great books for this month!
I love the Anne series. It is one of my all time favorites. Most of L. M. Montgomery's works are good. The Westing Game is good also. I have read it several times. Ransome's Honor is on my TBR list also. American Idol is taking away my reading time too. I try to work on my blog or be online at the same time. Get two things done at once. It somewhat works. lol :)
Yes, I absolutely get the feeling of wanting to read way more books than I possibly have time for! There's just so much out there that catches our eyes, right? Enjoy the ones you do have time for! :)
Oooh--the Westing Game--a good one! :-)
Love Kaye Dacus! Happy reading.
We loved watching the Anne movies, but were disappointed to find that they're nothing like the book series. I know - surprise, surprise! =( Curious to know what you think of them.
I love Kaye Dacus! I'll have to check out Ransome's Honor.
Melissa I have a question. Is the Week in Words a weekly carnival or a one time thing?
